Lagos (Nigeria), June 19, 2017 – Public agencies including the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) joined MainOne to corroborate the impact of Information and Communications Technology on their operations. Speaking during a Business Engagement Session organized by MainOne for the Public Sector in Abuja themed “Doing More with Less: Driving Business Efficiency with Technology”, Head of the Applications Development Division, ICT at the FIRS, Mike Oguh underscored the impact of technology in the revenue generation drive at the agency. According to him, technology has empowered the FIRS to combat fraudulent practices, reduce human errors experienced in handling revenue generation and ensure improved processing efficiency. “Our use of ICT and automation has guaranteed visibility in monitoring monies paid by tax payers thereby removing discrepancies in the system”, he said.
Supporting and highlighting the impact of technology in the Nigerian Real Estate industry, the Head of ICT at the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC), Taofeek Olatinwo identified IT as a key enabler in reducing Nigeria’s housing deficits and improving access of Nigerians to available housing through the creation of an ecosystem (the Housing Market system), connecting primary and secondary lenders. Olatinwo appreciated MainOne’s efforts in delivering world-class solutions and unique broadband services to the agency which has significantly improved its productivity and efficiency.
